Painting

With any change of colour there are numerous panels and shuts that need painting inside. Here we are getting a head start whilst we still wait for the delivery of air suspension parts from an unmentionable company.

It is this car which forces us to develop our own air suspension kits simply to avoid such delays in the future.

Although much of this is unseen most of the time it still has to be very thoroughly sanded, cleaned, primed and top coated in exactly the same way as the outside of the car.
Here you can see the engine bay being done. It is not normally economic to remove the engine, so we do the best we can with the engine in place. We move everything we can, and mask as best we can.

Cleaning and preparing the engine bay always takes a long time because the invariably have a lot of grease and oil around them which must be cleaned off prior to priming.
Everything is ready to paint above. Below you can see the first coats of yellow. You can just see that it is not totally glossy - it is in fact satin - this is because it is the basecoat which must be covered with clear lacquer which you can see in the photos further below are glossier.
