ERA Replica Bodykit.
The ERA Kit was the very first kit that we moulded. The original kits were fitted to the 600 or so Mini ERA Turbos that were produced in 1989/90, most of which went to Japan. The kit was very boxy, and until 1997 and our introduction of the Majic kit must have ranked as the most popular Mini kit, with kit sales at the very least outnumbering sales of original cars by 10 to 1. The kit looked very butch, and the square lines of the kit contrasted perfectly with the soft rounded lines of the Mini.
The kits are odd in two respects, firstly the kits themselves have panel joints in very odd places, there are 3 joints in the sideskirts, and another three in the rear bumper of the original style kit. The Budget kit (now discontinued) was slightly better although lost out on originality because of the changes to the kit is easier to fit with its one-piece bumpers, skirts, and arches. Versions are available for the Clubman, Van, Estate, Pickup, Saloon. The other respect in which this kit is odd, is that the metal at the rear of the front arch needs to be modified to enable the bodykit arches to fit since they fit under the flange, and another section of the front A panel also needs minor modifications.
Rated in the adverts as a two-spanner job this is slightly more involved to fit than the simple kits because of the panel joints. Wheels can vary from 5.5 x 13 to 7 x 13, and some 14ís can also be accommodated. The holes in the front bumper are not fog lights, even though many people fit fogs here, but are actually air ducts for heater, and air intake. The rear bumper has a pair of fog light apertures into which small fog lights can be fitted. If you have trouble sourcing these we can supply them.
This "Advantage" was in a very poor state when it arrived with us. We fitted an ERA turbo style bodykit, which was seamlessly blended in and conducted a complete repaint. Foam was injected into the sideskirts and front bumper for rigidity and longevity.
7" x 13" wheels were fitted with 175/50/13 Yokohama tyres.
For a long time this was the proprietors car, which he used daily. 5" x 12" wheels were fitted with 155/70/12 tyres because the boss prefers the handling of the 12" wheels.
The car was fitted with a Double Duck Hood, an ERA Style Bodykit, and a fibreglass front end.
The car was also made into a Full convertible using one of our Mini Malibu conversion kits.
The car was lowered later and the wheels then filled the arches better. Wheel spacers were used on this car.
This bodykit is designated as special order - for full details please view the terms page available from the top of every page.
